About GST Calculator

Goods and Services Tax (GST) is a comprehensive indirect tax levied on the supply of goods and services in India. It has replaced multiple cascading taxes levied by the central and state governments.

Our GST calculator helps you quickly determine the GST amount and final price for any product or service. You can calculate GST in two ways: Exclusive of GST (when you know the base price) or Inclusive of GST (when you know the final price including GST).

For exclusive calculation: GST Amount = (Original Price × GST Rate) / 100, Final Price = Original Price + GST Amount.

For inclusive calculation: Net Price = Final Price / (1 + GST Rate/100), GST Amount = Final Price - Net Price.

GST Rates in India

India has a multi-tier GST structure with four main rates:

  • 0% GST: Essential items like fresh fruits, vegetables, milk, bread, etc.
  • 5% GST: Household necessities like sugar, tea, coffee, edible oil, etc.
  • 12% GST: Processed foods, computers, mobile phones, etc.
  • 18% GST: Most common rate for goods and services like electronics, restaurants, financial services, etc.
  • 28% GST: Luxury items like automobiles, premium consumer goods, etc.

Some items like gold and precious stones attract a special rate of 3%, while some services are taxed at specific rates.
